Grant Funding

Grant Guidelines and Funding

Classis Holland supports congregations and ministries through various grant funding programs

Grant Guidelines

Grant guideline for budget year 2026
  • Congregations with 75 or fewer active adult professing members are eligible for sustaining grants.
  • Grants will ordinarily support CRCNA affiliated ministries within the geographic footprint of classis.
  • A ministry may apply for only one type of grant per year
  • Maximum grants are $8,000/year
    • Student funding grants have a maximum of $5,000/year and $20,000 for the entirety of a student’s years of theological training
    • Sustaining grants are renewed every five years only after a ministry review with particular attention given to a clear mission focused vision, sustained congregational health, and demonstrated evangelistic and community engagement outcomes (see below for questions to be addressed).
  • Classical grants are distributed through a networking process whenever possible:
    1. Classis approves a grant funding request
    2. A congregation agrees to enter into a networking relationship with a grant recipient
    3. The contributing congregation reduces their classical ministry shares by the amount of the grant request and write a check directly to the grant recipient and notify the classical treasurer
  • No grant projects can be dually funded by both Classis Holland and another granting organization without the prior approval of the Classical Ministries Coordinator and the Classical Executive Team.
  • Grants may include approved diaconal ministries and campus ministries
  • All grant requests must be submitted by July 15 in the year prior to the granting year.
